We are a Haitian radio station with a unique retro feel, broadcasting exclusively online. At Nostalgie FM, we play non-stop music, 24/7, every day of the week. Our station’s mission is to revive the musical memories of the past, bringing back the hits of yesteryear for the “old young people” who rocked to these tunes in their youth, while also introducing our musical heritage to the new generation
On nostalgiefm.com, you can enjoy a personalized music experience, choosing from a variety of
tracks. Our automatic song request system lets users browse available songs and select their favorites, which
will play shortly. You can request up to two songs every 30 minutes to ensure
fairness and avoid monopolizing the system. Visit nostalgeiefm.com to enjoy this
non-stop music experience, featuring your favorite songs from the past!
Our decision to embrace the retro format stems from deep personal nostalgia. In the early ’90s, I visited Haiti and was struck by the dramatic changes that had occurred since
I had left. As Henri Celestin poignantly expressed in Les Ombres du Temps, the once familiar Haiti was now a stranger to me, a place where the faces and streets I knew had vanished.
Haiti’s music scene had also shifted. Genres like Hip-Hop, Rap, and Reggae had overtaken the once-dominant Compas Direct, and news shows like Peter Jennis’ ABC News replaced local programming. I watched in sadness as “progress” took over, leaving behind the music that had once defined my childhood.
This sense of loss inspired me to collect and preserve the old songs of Haiti. Upon returning to New York, I began sharing this music with my friends, who were equally captivated by its nostalgic value. The popularity of the internet gave me the perfect platform to share it with the world. Why not create a station for Haitian music lovers
around the globe?
Inspired by well-established stations like CBS FM 101 in
the US and Nostalgie.fr in France, I envisioned creating a
Haitian version for music lovers around the world.
Nostalgie FM was born out of this desire to share our
unique musical heritage with an international audience.
Our goal is to offer a space where fans of Haitian music
can reconnect with the memories of the beautiful days
through timeless classics.
The platform allows anyone, anywhere to relive the magic
of our musical culture and heritage. Whether you’re in
Haiti, the United States, or anywhere across the globe,
Nostalgie FM provides a unique window to the past.
At Nostalgie FM, we are committed to preserving and
sharing the rich musical legacy of Haiti with the world.
Our station isn’t just about playing music; it’s about
fostering a community of people who appreciate the
cultural richness of Haitian music and its impact on the
world.
We hope that our mission will continue to inspire future
generations and keep the memory of Haiti’s golden musical
era alive. We are deeply grateful for your support, and we
encourage you to share this journey with your friends and
family. Thank you for visiting Nostalgie FM every day—we
look forward to continuing this noble mission for many
years to come.
Stay tuned and enjoy the music!
