We are a Haitian radio station with a retro feel that broadcasts only “online”. We play music non-stop, without commercial breaks, every day of the week (24/7).
Our goal is not only to revive for the “old young people” the hits of yesteryear that rocked their youth but also to introduce our musical heritage to the “New Generation”.
On nostalgiefm.com , Internet users have the possibility to order the music of their choice, through an automatic system that allows them to review the list of available songs and click on the title of a chosen song that will be available to listen to in the following minutes. [PLAYLISTS & REQUESTS menu] .
Remember that two songs can be requested every 30 minutes, this is to avoid the monopolization of the system by certain Internet users.
Why did we choose the retro format?
In the early 90s, I went to Haiti, and I was very surprised to see that the Haiti-Thomas I knew ten years earlier was no more. As Henri Celestin said about Les Difficiles de Pétion-Ville in LES OMBRES DU TEMPS : “All these houses, these faces have made me a stranger… Unknown in this street that was once my only cradle…”
Indeed, almost all my childhood friends have settled abroad. On the radio, HIP-HOP, RAP, REGGAE, replaced our dear COMPAS DIRECT . Peter Jennis’ ABC News served as our news program. With a heavy heart and a hot throat, I watched helplessly what they call: “Progress”.
This nostalgia for the 70s and 80s haunted me.
When I returned to New York, I started collecting all the old songs from Haiti. This collection was known to all my friends.
With the popularity of the internet I thought: “Why not share it with all the music lovers around the world …”
In the US, they have their CBS FM 101. In France, they have their NOSTALGIE.fr . Why not have our own Nostalgie FM too?
This is how the site nostalfiefm.com was born.
Music lovers from all over the world , I invite you to relive with me the “Memories of the Beautiful Days” .
Let us hope that the great architect of the Universe will grant us long life for this noble and community mission of memory of the past.
Enjoy listening to all and above all thank you for visiting us every day; encourage your friends to do so too.
THANKS!
